We were so blessed to be introduced to the amazing Leila Daoud of Dynamite PR in our efforts to seek out a PR and Communications entity that would enable us to launch our organization and its services into the Ronald McDonald House and straight into the hearts of the community of Edmonton and surrounding areas. And so it was that on August 30, 2011 I found myself in the precarious position at the end of the camera and microphone sharing the story of Local4Local4Local and asking for the community's support. This was a very scary prospect, which was made FAR easier by the crew members of Global Edmonton, CBC News, and CTV News. A very heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to these amazing news teams for their extensive coverage of our mission on all of the main (if not all!!) of the news broadcasts that day. Your crew members were 'top notch' ambassadors of your organizations, and were very gracious in their process with this media 'newbie'.
As well, my heartfelt thanks goes out to the House and its team and its families. They were gracious hosts to our event, despite their stresses and the subsequent disruption to their schedules.
One of the families of the house, whom I am so fortunate to count as 'friends' are mom, Bonnie, and son 'D'... they were graciously available to lend their voice and image to our campaign, in letting the public community know just how much a home-cooked dinner meals to them at the end of a long day in hospital. I thank them for being vulnerable, and for sharing a glimpse of their story.
And so it 'officially' begins: this journey to be of comfort and of good service to families facing some of the most horrendous of realities as they parent and coach their children through debilitating and oft times excrutiating circumstances with their health.
We look forward to providing some measure of comfort...
